| Temporary Visa Categories |

There are several categories of temporary, nonimmigrant visas available to those who wish to work in the USA. Those that are most frequently acquired through our office are:

  • O-1 Visas: For persons of extraordinary ability in the arts, education, business, science, athletics or extraordinary achievement in motion pictures and television field.
  • O-2 visas: For persons accompanying an O-1 foreign national to assist them in the artistic or athletic performance for a specific event or performance.
  • O-3 visas: For accompanying spouses and children.
  • P-1, 2, 3 and P-S Visas: P-1: Individual or team athletes or members of an entertainment group which is internationally recognized. P-2: Artists or entertainers who will perform under a reciprocal exchange program. P-3: Artists or entertainers who perform under a program that is culturally unique.
  • P-S: Persons accompanying a P-1 or P-3 performer or athlete to assist in the artistic or athletic performance
  • H-1 B Visas: For professionals in a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree, its foreign educational equivalent, or equivalent in training or experience
  • L-1 Visas: Multi-national corporation executives, managers or specialized knowledge employees
  • E-1 and E-2 Visas: International Traders and Investors pursuant to special treaties
  • TN (NAFTA): For Canadian and Mexican nationals under the North American Free Trade Agreement
  • I Visas: For journalists and information media
  • J and Q Visas: Exchange Visitors. The J Visa is for educational and cultural exchange programs designated by the US Information Agency (USIA). The Q Visa is for international cultural exchange programs designated by the USCIS

| The Process |

In order to obtain these visas, it is necessary that the applicant's employer or agent file a petition with USCIS. This can take a few weeks through expedited handling (Premium Processing) or up to a few months through regular processing. Once approved, the sponsor (agent or employer) is sent an approval notice. If the foreign national is outside the USA, they are then ready to take the approval notice to the US Consulate and present an application for a visa to be placed inside their passport. The Consulate reviews the applicant's visa application and the USCIS petition, and determines the applicant's visa eligibility.

These visas are very well tailored for most of our clients and their families who wish to live and work temporarily in the USA. They enable spouses and minor, unmarried children of the principal visa holder to travel, to attend school but not accept employment during their temporary period of stay in the USA.

Following the granting of temporary status, we additionally work with clients that wish to pursue permanent residency (green-card) status in the USA and offer these services as well.
